Upon arrival at Beasley Allen, Navan was a member of the Mass Torts division, where he was responsible for overseeing all aspects of Meridia pharmaceutical drug litigation. Navan then moved to the Nursing Home division where he litigated nursing home neglect and abuse cases in Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia. Navan has litigated cases where the nursing home resident suffered from injuries such as, multiple falls, bedsores, malnutrition, dehydration, aspiration pneumonia and sepsis/infections. During his time litigating nursing home cases, Navan was successful in obtaining verdicts and/or settlements in excess of $2 million for his clients.
Currently, Navan is heavily involved with Cox-2 (Vioxx, Celebrex, Bextra) pharmaceutical drug litigation. He is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Celebrex and Bextra pharmaceutical litigation. Navan is one of the leaders in the Bextra/Celebrex Multi-district Litigation (MDL), serving on both the Science and Discovery committees. Additionally, Navan is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Permax and Dostinex pharmaceutical drug litigation. These drugs were used for the treatment of Parkinson's Disease, but caused damage to the user's heart valves. Navan has been instrumental in obtaining settlements totaling more than $7 million for some of the clients that he represents who have taken these dangerous drugs. Navan has given several presentations concerning Cox-2 drug issues, Permax/Dostinex litigation, Hormone Replacement Therapy litigation, and nursing home litigation issues throughout the country.
Before he arrived at Beasley, Allen, Navan had experience working for an insurance defense firm and an employment law firm. He was involved in cases dealing with medical malpractice, car accidents, contractor liability, race discrimination and sexual harassment in the work place.
Navan is married to the former Bridget L. Maynor, of Irondale Alabama. Navan's childhood church was Bethany Seventh Day Adventist Church, but he now attends Northview Christian Church - Safe Harbor.
Navan is a board member of Faith Outreach Ministries, Inc and the Co-chair of the Annual Father Walter's Charity Golf Tournament. Additionally he is a member of Leadership Montgomery's Class XXI.
Navan serves in leadership positions for various legal organizations. Currently, he serves as the treasurer for the Young Lawyers Section of the Alabama State Bar; treasurer for the Montgomery Trial Lawyer's Association; Parliamentarian for the Capital City Bar Association; Law School Summer Internship Chairperson and Parliamentarian for the Alabama Lawyer's Association; a member of the Montgomery County Bar Association, a member of the Mississippi Bar Association; and an American Bar Association State Delegate for Alabama.
