Scarlette grew up in Scottsboro, Alabama. She majored in Agricultural Economics at Auburn University; and in 1998, she graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law. While at Alabama she was an editor of the Law and Psychology Review as well as the Honor Court Defense Counsel. Upon graduation, she began her practice with Beasley Allen focusing on personal injury cases. Today, her practice areas are business litigation, environmental/toxic tort litigation and predatory lending. In her business practice, she has represented hospitals, manufacturers, food packagers, lumber companies, contractors and shareholders. Scarlette obtained a $1.9 million dollar arbitration award for a group of pig farmer's whose buyer breached the purchase contract for the farmers pigs. At present, Scarlette is pursuing a number of cases against subprime mortgage lenders and mortgage services regarding predatory lending practices.
Though Scarlette is very involved with the Women's bar in Alabama, she is also the founder and former president of the Montgomery County Women's Bar Section. Scarlette has presented continuing education programs on environmental litigation and the use of technology in case preparation and the courtroom. Scarlette made a presentation to ATLA's Financial Securities and Analyst Group regarding the WorldCom litigation at ATLA's National Convention in Toronto.
Scarlette is married to Jay S. Tuley, a shareholder with the law firm of Nix, Holtsford, Gilliland, Higgins & Hitson, P.C. The Tuleys have two children, Beck and Riley, and are members of Memorial Presbyterian Church.
