About Rebecca
Rebecca joined Beasley Allen as a law clerk in November 2010 before being promoted to attorney in 2012. In 2017, she moved home to Pensacola to be closer to family and returned to Beasley Allen’s Mobile Office in 2021. Rebecca is currently working on cases involving auto class actions, antitrust, Attorney General representation, and insurance law.
Rebecca has a passion for learning and enjoys seeing the evolution of the law. In 2018, she was honored by being selected to the National Trial Lawyers (NTL) Top 40 Under 40 list, a prestigious recognition awarded to a select group of lawyers for their exceptional skills and qualifications in the legal field.
With an LL.M. in Insurance Law, Rebecca has extensive experience in insurance litigation, covering areas like employee benefits, ERISA, and non-ERISA insurance matters. She has also worked on cases across multiple states to recover funds for states that paid for pharmaceutical products and devices due to fraudulent and deceptive practices. In addition, Rebecca is actively involved in several class actions, including collaborating with the auto-defect team.
One of her most memorable cases is the $2.8 billion settlement in the Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) antitrust case, the largest antitrust settlement in U.S. healthcare history. This case marked a significant milestone in her career and sparked her focus on insurance law. Rebecca’s passion for helping physicians with insurance payments stems from her background—her father is a pediatrician. This connection makes her work in supporting medical professionals especially meaningful to her.
She is an active member of several prestigious legal organizations, including the Alabama State Bar, Florida State Bar, and the Escambia Santa Rosa Bar. She also participates in the Mobile and Baldwin County Bar Associations and their Women Lawyers Section. Additionally, Rebecca holds key roles as the current Vice President and CLE Chair of the Escambia Santa Rosa Bar Association.
Rebecca and her husband, Keith Gilliland, live in Spanish Fort, Alabama, with their four children, keeping them busy with a variety of activities. Before becoming a lawyer, Rebecca served as a Marine, where she trained in celestial navigation and flew on C-130s. In her free time, Rebecca is passionate about music! She started playing the piano at age 5, the violin at 10, and later learned the viola and cello. She has performed at countless weddings and concerts, with two symphonies, and at Carnegie Hall with the New England Symphonic Ensemble.
Education
Rebecca graduated from the University of West Florida in December 2007 with a B.A. in Criminal Justice. She then attended Faulkner University’s Thomas Goode Jones School of Law, where she earned her J.D. magna cum laude in May 2012. In 2018, she furthered her education with an LL.M. in Insurance Law, with honors, from the University of Connecticut School of Law.
During her time in law school, Rebecca consistently made the Dean’s List and received six best paper awards. She was also an editorial board member for the Law Review. Her advocacy skills earned her several awards, including best advocate in the preliminary rounds of the National Moot Court Competition, the American College of Trial Lawyer’s Award for Excellence, best petitioner brief at the Mercer Moot Court Competition, and second place best advocate at the same competition. Additionally, she was a national quarter-finalist in the New York rounds of the National Moot Court Competition and won the August A. Rendigs National Products Liability Moot Court Championship.
