Alaska ends Medicaid Fraud litigation with justice for its citizens

Beasley Allen has represented numerous states in Average Wholesale Price (AWP) Medicaid Fraud litigation, settling more than $1.3 billion in claims. In 2013, Alaska became the ninth state to announce an end to AWP litigation.

Through the litigation, Alaska recovered more than $45 million from pharmaceutical companies that had defrauded the state and its citizens.  More than two dozen manufacturers were accused of overcharging the Alaska Medicaid program.

Alaska’s attorney general retained Beasley Allen to represent the state in litigation.

As a result of AWP litigation, the federal government and state Medicaid programs have recognized the gross abuse of price reporting by pharmaceutical manufacturers in the marketplace.

“These cases have made a significant social change in how our Medicaid program operates,” explains Beasley Allen Shareholder W.
