Dylan Martin, Consumer Protection lawyer

About Dylan

Dylan Martin started his journey at Beasley Allen as a law clerk before being promoted to attorney in 2021. He focuses on consumer protection class actions, specifically automobile defect cases involving major automobile manufacturers and original equipment suppliers.

Dylan’s passion and deep understanding of vehicle systems has been a game-changer in automotive defect class actions. His most memorable case was the General Motors Gen IV 5.3L Oil Consumption Litigation. This case was special because it was his first jury trial as an attorney, and it ended with a rare full Plaintiffs’ jury verdict totaling $102 million. Additionally, Dylan recently helped secure an estimated $380 million settlement for Subaru owners with defective fuel pumps and a $287 million settlement for Toyota owners facing similar issues.

He is actively involved in several prestigious legal organizations, including the Alabama State Bar, the American Bar Association, and the Montgomery County Bar Association.

When Dylan isn’t practicing law or spending quality time with his wife, Mary Frances, and their children, Elizabeth, Beatrice, and Brooks, he loves tinkering with his ’74 MGB and driving the winding backroads around Montgomery. Dylan’s passion for vehicles and automotive racing started young, as he fondly remembers helping his father work on their 1976 Ford F100 pickup truck and 1976 Triumph TR6. Whether it was routine maintenance, repairs, or complete rebuilds, his father always kept him involved and learning. Today, Dylan proudly owns a 1974 MGB and is an active member of the British Motoring Club of Montgomery.

Education

Dylan graduated from Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law in 2021, where he excelled academically and made the dean’s list. He showcased his negotiation skills as the Director of Negotiation for the Cumberland Trial Advocacy Board and competed on the National Negotiation Team. Alongside his partner, Dylan won the 2020 ABA Regional Competition and reached the quarterfinals in the ABA National Negotiation Competition.

Dylan also dominated intra-school competitions, winning both the 1L Negotiation Competition and the Henry C. Strickland Negotiation Competition, earning the title of Best Advocate in both. He contributed to the American Journal of Trial Advocacy as a junior editor and Associate Editor of External Relations.

Since Fall 2021, Dylan has served as an Associate Coach for the Cumberland National Negotiation Team.

Before law school, Dylan graduated from Huntingdon College in 2018 with a B.A. in political science and a minor in communications.
