In 1979, Jere Beasley established Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles, P.C., which has since grown into one of the nation’s leading civil litigation firms. Beasley Allen has represented hundreds of thousands of people, embodying the firm’s motto, “helping those who need it most.” This guiding principle, inspired by Jere’s mother, shapes the firm’s approach to both their work and community involvement.
Jere Beasley has received numerous accolades throughout his career, consistently being named to prestigious lists such as Best Lawyers, Super Lawyers, and Chambers USA Leading Lawyers. Lawdragon recognized him four times as one of the top 500 plaintiff consumer lawyers and inducted him into their Plaintiff Consumer Hall of Fame in 2017. In 2016, he received the American Association for Justice Tonahill Award for his exceptional dedication to consumers and the trial bar. He was also honored with the War Horse Award from the Southern Trial Lawyers Association in 2011, recognizing his outstanding advocacy skills and commitment to justice over a career spanning more than 40 years. Additionally, The Trial Lawyer magazine named him one of America’s 100 Most Influential Trial Lawyers in 2011 and one of the 50 Most Influential Trial Lawyers in 2020, highlighting his significant impact in both civil plaintiff and criminal defense law. He also serves on the Board of Directors for The Judge Frank M. Johnson, Jr. Institute.
Over the past 45 years, Jere and Beasley Allen have litigated numerous landmark cases that have made a positive difference in the lives of all Americans. These cases have resulted in safety recalls, better safety rules and regulations, safer products, and settlements and judgments that have prompted companies to change the way they do business. Thousands of other cases have resulted in settlements and judgments that improved the lives of individual clients and entire communities.
Jere’s influence extends beyond the walls of his firm. He has been a mentor to many and shares with his staff the guiding principles of integrity, dedication, and compassion.
Born in 1935 in Tyler, Texas, Jere was raised in Clayton, Alabama, where his mother ran a small grocery store and his dad was a farmer. He is married to Sara Baker of Adamsville, Alabama. They have three children—Jere Jr., Julia Anne Beasley, and Bee McCollum—along with six granddaughters and six great grandchildren. Jere is a passionate supporter of Auburn University sports and Boston Red Sox baseball. He is also an active member of St. James Methodist Church.
Education
Jere received a Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University and his Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1962.
