About Elizabeth
Elizabeth (Liz) Achtemeier joined Beasley Allen in 2012 and is currently focused on the talcum powder litigation, representing women who developed ovarian cancer due to Johnson’s Baby Powder and Shower to Shower products.
Liz loves tackling challenges and finding solutions. Her outstanding skills and qualifications have earned her a place on The National Trial Lawyers’ Alabama Top 40 Under 40 List, a prestigious recognition awarded to a select group of lawyers.
When Liz works on cases, she begins by envisioning the best possible outcome and then plans backward to achieve it. Some of her notable cases include the Zofran Birth Defect Litigation, the Proton Pump Inhibitor Litigation, the Actos Bladder Cancer Litigation, and the Xarelto Litigation. In the Xarelto case, she managed the enrollment, claims submission, and payment for over 1,200 clients.
She is a member of the Alabama State Bar, the Montgomery County Bar Association and the Alabama Association for Justice. She was also selected to the Alabama State Bar’s Leadership Forum Class 15.
In her free time, Liz enjoys a variety of creative activities. She plays music, works on embroidery projects, crochets, and paints. Each hobby allows her to express her creativity in different ways.
Education
Liz earned her bachelor’s degree in music education from Troy University in 2006, graduating summa cum laude. She was vice president of the Alabama Executive Board for the Collegiate Music Educators National Conference and a member of Phi Kappa Phi honor society. Before law school, she taught elementary music and chorus in Georgia.
She received her J.D. from Cumberland School of Law in 2012, graduating cum laude. She served as research editor for the Cumberland Law Review and was active in the Henry Upson Sims Moot Court Board, winning several moot court competitions. During law school, Liz clerked for the Federal Defenders for the Middle District of Alabama, the Alabama Attorney General’s Office, and the Alabama Law Institute.
