About Paul
Paul Evans started his journey at Beasley Allen as a law clerk before becoming an attorney in 2017. He currently focuses on class actions, commercial litigation, and bad-faith insurance cases.
He has been selected to several prestigious lists, including the National Trial Lawyers Association’s Top 40 Under 40 for Civil Plaintiffs, Mid-South Super Lawyers Rising Stars, and the 2025 edition of the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America for his work in Commercial Litigation. In 2023, Paul was selected to Class 18 of the Alabama State Bar’s Leadership Forum, which is a program for nurturing and developing leadership skills and values among a select group of qualified, promising attorneys each year.
Paul always felt called to serve and help others, particularly those who no one else was willing or able to help. He played a significant role in two major life insurance class actions. In the first, he co-led a case against US Financial Life Insurance Company, resulting in a $28 million settlement for nearly 12,000 policyholders who alleged improper increases in cost of insurance (COI) charges. In the second, he was part of a team that secured a $38.2 million settlement for over 10,750 Banner Life Insurance Co. policyholders and William Penn Life Insurance Co., who also alleged unjustified COI increases. Additionally, Paul contributed to a landmark Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals decision that clarified the burden of proof for class members objecting to settlements, ultimately upholding the fairness of the Banner Life settlement.
He is a member of several professional associations, including the Alabama State Bar, where he was appointed to serve on the Lawyers in the Classroom Committee for the 2024-2025 bar year, the Montgomery County Bar Association, and the Alabama Association for Justice. Paul also serves on the Board of Directors for Catholic Social Services of Montgomery and the Friendship Mission. Additionally, he provides pro bono service through the Middle District of Alabama’s Pro Se Litigant Assistance Program.
Paul is a native of Montgomery, Alabama, and is actively involved in his community. He attends First Baptist Church. Paul is married to Jillian Jordan Evans, an Assistant Attorney General in Alabama’s Criminal Trials Division, and they reside in Montgomery with their two children and Goldendoodle, Atticus. In his free time, he enjoys watching and attending sporting event (particularly football). Growing up, he learned invaluable lessons about teamwork, leadership, and resilience through his participation in various sports.
Education
Paul earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) magna cum laude from Faulkner University’s Thomas Goode Jones School of Law in 2017 after graduating summa cum laude with a B.S. in political science from Troy University, where he served his senior year as Vice President of the Student Government Association.
While in law school, Paul was an editorial board member of the Faulkner Law Review, President of the Student Bar Association, and a Walter J. Knabe Scholar. Additionally, Paul received five Best Paper awards, was on the Dean’s Honor Roll each semester, and was involved in the moot court program. He also received the Dean’s Award, which is presented at graduation to the student who best exemplifies the purposes and philosophy of the law school.
