About Stephanie
Stephanie Monplaisir started her journey at Beasley Allen in 2011. She focuses on cases involving complex litigation and appellate proceedings.
Learning from failure is often more valuable than success. Stephanie believes this mindset is key to becoming a better lawyer. Since 2018, she has been recognized as a Midsouth Super Lawyers Rising Star, highlighting top young attorneys. She was named the 2018 Beasley Allen Lawyer of the Year for Products Liability and the 2019 Lawyer of the Year for the River Region by Destiny Girls Academy. Additionally, Stephanie has been recognized as a Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch for her work in Personal Injury and Product Liability Litigation since 2021.
Stephanie is a highly accomplished attorney with a remarkable track record, having secured over $200 million in verdicts and settlements. She has demonstrated her skill in both state and federal courts, contributing to several notable trial teams. One of Stephanie’s significant achievements includes securing a settlement for the family of Kimberleigh Welch, a school bus driver who tragically died due to a defectively designed bus. She also played a crucial role in winning a $151 million verdict for Travaris “Tre” Smith, who was paralyzed in a rollover accident involving a 1998 Ford Explorer. The jury found that Ford failed to meet safety guidelines and concealed the vehicle’s defective design. Additionally, Stephanie’s dedication and skill were instrumental in obtaining an $18.79 million verdict for Colin Lacy, who was paralyzed due to negligent maintenance of his 18-wheeler by a mechanic shop.
She is actively involved in the legal community as a member of the Montgomery County Bar Association, the Attorneys Information Exchange Group, and the Alabama Association for Justice. Beyond these roles, Stephanie has also made significant contributions to the Alabama State Bar by serving on the Lawyer University Task Force and the Health and Wellness Committee.
Stephanie’s husband, David, is a Captain with the Montgomery Fire Department, and they are active members of Frazer Methodist Church. Stephanie is dedicated to mentoring law students and young lawyers. She led Beasley Allen’s Summer Law Clerk Program, guiding students from across the state and continuing to support them even after they left the firm. As the first lawyer in her family, she draws from her own experiences to help others. Stephanie also values her physical and mental health by taking walks, having brunch with friends, and spending quality time with her family, understanding the importance of self-care for women lawyers.
